On July 24 (2002), at the Tiroler Festspiele in Erl, the Risognanze Ensemble and mezzosoprano Elena Comotti, conducted by Tito Ceccherini, will give the world premiere of …en el Aire… for female voice and 5 players.

On this composition the composer writes: "…en el Aire… was composed in 1999 and is perhaps one of my most intimate works, being composed shortly after the death of my mother and dedicated to her memory. In the first movement I used a text by the Mexican poet Octavio Paz, El colibrí, which contains specific allusions to the ephemeral flight of the hummingbird - which for native Americans had come down from Paradise. These allusions here become direct references to the present, to the transience of life.

In the second movement I isolated fragments of a text one of my brothers wrote, still in our mother's memory - with Paz's poem as point of reference - and I gave each phrase a specific, almost madrigalistic setting. These fragments alternate moments of flourish and an increasing tendency to weaken the rhythmic character and density of the musical objects, gradually emptying them, until only one note is left in the piano".
