March 2008. Javier Torres Maldonado receives a new commission by the GRAME (Centre National de Creation Musicale of Lyon) and the French Minstry of Culture for a new piece for percussions instruments and electronics, the work will be premired during the Rendez-vouz Interantionaux de la Timbales of Lyon and it will be composed to the percussionist Yi-Ping Yang.
Javier Torres Maldonado is distinguished with the fellowship of The Civitella Ranieri Foundation of New York.
2008-2009. Artist in residence, Civitella Ranieri Foundation of New York; Javier Torres Maldonado will be in residence in 2009 at the CIvitella Ranieri Center in Umbria, Italy, to develop several composition projects.
"Commande d'Etat".
March 2007. Javier Torres Maldonado receives the "Commande d'Etat" from the French Ministry of Culture; the work commissioned will be composed to the soprano Francois Kubler and the Ensemble "Accroche Note" from Strasbourg in 2008.
Torres Maldonado is nominated as Professor in composition and new technologies at the Conservatoire "G. Verdi" of Milan.
From the accademic year 2007-2008 Javier Torres Maldonado is nominated as professor in composition and new technologies (full time) at the Conservatoire "G. Verdi" of Milan, teaching at the degree and master courses.
Javier Torres Maldonado wins the International Composition Competition of GRAME.
The jury composed by Henry Forés (director of the Conservatoire National Superior de Musique et Danse of Lyon), Pierre-Alain Jaffrenou (director of GRAME), Daniel Kawka (artistic director of the Ensemble Orchestral Contemporain), Didier Muhleisen (member of the EOC), Francois Paris (compositeur, director of the Centre National de Création Musicale de Marseille), Beatrice Rameau (musicologue) and Lorraine Vaillancourt (artistique director of the Nouvel Ensemble Moderne), nominate Javier Torres Maldonado as the winner of the 6th. International Composition Competition GRAME of Lyon, for the category open to all composers in the world. Javier Torres Maldonado will be welcome in GRAME's studios to formerly achieve his new piece. The successful candidates will benefit from a musical commission and the new work will be premiered during the "Biennale Musiques en Scène 2008" festival, performed by the Ensemble Orchestral Contemporain and by the Nouvel Ensemble Moderne, conducted by Daniel Kawka.
